I'm a PhD student who loves to ride my touring bike everywhere. I commute (34 mile round trip), run errands, take my kid to any park we can get to, and just ride for fun. I typically log between 150 and 200 miles a week. |
rode 28 miles in 1 hour and 55 minutesI broke the two hour mark again today, in late-November, in Salt Lake City. The weather is so nice that it scares me that Mother Earth will take her revenge. I think I can finally say I'm not sick. about 21 hours ago 0 comments |
rode 16 miles in 1 hour and 25 minutesTook my son to the park. We played, laid in the grass and looked at the clouds, chased birds - had a wonderful day with such wonderful weather. Back to the commute in the morning. 1 day ago 0 comments |
rode 14 miles in 1 hour and 20 minutesRide actually took place yesterday. Took my son on a nice little hiking, tracking, single-track adventure. Very nice day. We're almost at 750 miles with the trailer this year. 1 day ago 0 comments |
rode 56 miles in 4 hoursRide to Saltair/Marina. Took the JRP-airport bike path-I-80 frontage road out, then 5600 W and 5400 S home. The unexpected 950 foot climb 45 miles in was, um, challenging. Wonderful day! 11/15/2008 0 comments |
rode 36 miles in 2 hours and 45 minutesTook the JRP both ways today. Train was blocking the trail, and it took a few miles to get around it. I'm so sore from the gym, but it was still a nice commute. 11/13/2008 0 comments |
rode 27 miles in 1 hour and 55 minutesPretty cold today - 39 when I left, 48 when I got home. Wind was pretty light. Not quite jacket weather, but the warm base layer helped. Took 9th E both ways, and broke the elusive 2 hour mark. 11/11/2008 0 comments |
rode 35 miles in 2 hours and 35 minutesTrain, climbed Emigration, then rode home. It was warm during the afternoon (55 or so). But the temp dropped quickly. I thought I was going to freeze on the descent. 11/08/2008 0 comments |

I'm really sick, so no ride today. Man, I had forgotten how much taking the train sucks. I'll be commuting all winter (as long as I can breathe!) using my studded tires for SLC's worst days. 11/06/2008 0 comments |
rode 31 miles in 2 hours and 35 minutesCrazy bad weather today. 20mph winds, heavy rain, and mid-30s on the way to campus. Of course, I was going against the wind. At the end, freezing rain and finally snow. Still thawing out. 11/04/2008 0 comments |
rode 32 miles in 2 hours and 10 minutesCommute downtown for Millgram research group meeting. Fruitful meeting and wonderful ride. The weather is steadily getting colder. Was pretty sick today - the ride made me feel better. 11/03/2008 0 comments |
